For Medical Professionals
To Doctors in Regional Medical Institutions
At Yokohama City University Hospital, the Department of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery prioritizes close collaboration with doctors who support regional medicine.
Starting in fiscal year 2026, our hospital's surgery department will be reorganized into a five-department system based on specialized fields. Our department, as a team specializing in advanced treatment for liver, biliary tract, and pancreatic diseases, has established a system to provide faster and higher quality medical care.
For referred patients, we will provide care hand-in-hand with you, maintaining close communication from diagnosis to treatment and post-operative follow-up.
Our Department's Key Treatment Areas
-
Advanced Surgical Treatment for Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Cancer
We actively pursue multidisciplinary treatment in collaboration with other departments, even for advanced cancers considered difficult to resect.
-
Promotion of Minimally Invasive Surgery
We have introduced robotic surgery (da Vinci) and laparoscopic surgery to provide treatments that balance radical cure with early return to social life.
-
Refractory Benign Diseases
We also handle diseases requiring specialized management, such as pancreatic cystic neoplasms, gallstones, and decompensated liver cirrhosis.
We will guide you through the patient referral procedure and necessary documents. We provide thorough support from advance notice via FAX or phone to the Medical Liaison Office to scheduling the first appointment.
Learn More
We actively accept second opinions from patients undergoing treatment at other hospitals. Our specialists will provide opinions on hepatobiliary pancreatic diseases, evaluation for liver transplant eligibility, etc.
