Our university's surgical departments, centered around "Surgical Therapeutics (formerly First Department of Surgery)" and "Gastroenterological and General Surgery (formerly Second Department of Surgery)," have been responsible for regional and advanced specialized medical care in Kanagawa Prefecture.
In response to the recent changes in the specialist training system, the advanced specialization of clinical departments, and the need for an integrated operational structure for our two affiliated hospitals, our university's surgery department entered a major transitional period from the 2026 academic year. We have reorganized into a new five-department system: "Cardiovascular Surgery," "Respiratory Surgery," "Breast and Endocrine Surgery," "Gastrointestinal Surgery," and our own "Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery." We will now develop higher quality medical care, education, and research in each of our specialized fields.
All members of the Department of Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery are committed to dedicating ourselves to patient-centered care, research, and community contribution under this new system. We humbly request your continued warm support.
